A selection of photographs taken on my only trip for railways to Sri Lanka in March 1994.
It covers both the 2 ft 6 inch narrow gauge and the 5 ft 6 inch broad gauge .

4-6-4T No 220 was built by Hunslet in 1924. The gauge is 2 ft 6 inches. The train is travelling to Avissawella.
4-6-0's No 340 and No 213 crossing a viaduct. No 340 was built by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn in 1944 and No 213 was built by Vulcan in 1922.
No 220 takes water.
No 240 crossing the golf course near Colombo heading to Homagama. No 240 is a 4-6-0 built by Hunslet in 1927.
