The rails were too hot? It was about 45 degrees!

The Nawabshah branch on the Mirpur Khas meter gauge system, in the Thad Desert in southeast Pakistan, used to see a steam hauled passenger train once or twice a week. Here, on 1 June 2005, the intense heat has buckled the rails, which would derail the train without urgent repairs. SP class locomotive 138 and the passenger service must wait until the rails have been straightened. At the time this photograph was taken, this branch line was due to be closed. However, although it is believed to have closed for a time since then,it may subsequently reopened.
